FAQ's
Response Time and Request Processing
Please note that we may take up to 1 week to respond to emails.
If you are requesting a strain, allow 3 to 4 weeks for culture growth. Inocula are only prepared and shipped after payment is received.
Can the user transfer a culture to another user?
No. When acquiring a strain, the user signs a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) which explicitly states that no transfer of the material is allowed between users, laboratories, or institutions under any circumstances. All requests for strains must be made directly to the LEGE Culture Collection.
How should proper credit be given to the LEGE Culture Collection?
If your work—such as a scientific publication, oral presentation, or poster—involves any strain from the LEGE Culture Collection (LEGE-CC), it is mandatory to provide appropriate acknowledgment.
For oral presentations or scientific posters, the official LEGE-CC logo may be used. Please contact us to request a high-resolution version if needed.
For scientific publications, proper credit should include:
A reference to the strain(s) in the Materials and Methods section, indicating the strain code and the collection’s name and website.
Example: “The strain used in this study, LEGE12345, was obtained from the LEGE Culture Collection (https://lege.ciimar.up.pt).An acknowledgment of LEGE-CC in the Acknowledgments section.
Example: “The authors acknowledge the LEGE Culture Collection (CIIMAR, University of Porto) for providing the cyanobacterial strain used in this study.”
This ensures transparency, traceability, and proper recognition of LEGE-CC’s contribution to your research.
