Cyanobacterial strains from the Blue Biotechnology and Ecotoxicology Culture Collection (LEGE-CC) will be screened as a source of bioactive compounds with effects on obesity and obesity-related co-morbidities in the CYANOBESITY project, new European CIIMAR project coordinated by Ralph Urbatzka. The project involves a funding of 1.3 million euros and five research groups in four european countries (Portugal, Sweden, Iceland and Germany), is coordinated by the Interdisciplinary Center for Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR).
